RBWH FOUNDATION MILITARY ART PRINTS AUCTION The RBWH Foundation is proud to present ‘Lest We Forget’, a Silent Auction of signed prints by Australian Contemporary artist, Donald James Waters, OAM. These prints are available thanks to the generosity of Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) patient and British Army veteran Michael ‘Mick’ Ward. This is your opportunity to own a piece of rare collectable art commemorating Australian and New Zealand war history, and to also join the RBWH Foundation in advancing patient care and life-saving research at RBWH; the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS); and other institutes on the Herston Health Precinct. These prints, beautifully framed by a Canberra craftsman, are sure to take pride of place in your home and your heart. ‘Lest We Forget’ was commissioned in 1991 by Legacy Brisbane for a fundraising calendar and series of prints, and consequently toured Australia and New Zealand in 1993. The original oil paintings and many of the associated prints are believed lost to fire, making these remaining signed copies among the few in circulation today. Each print has been inspired by different wars of the past century and includes the poignant mother and child, inspired by the poem, ‘A Mother’s Prayer’, written by the artist’s grandmother, Bess French, after her son perished at war. The Silent Auction coincides with the RBWH Foundation Military Dinner at Queensland Customs House on Friday 6 October, 2023.
